2.5D Image Measuring Instrument is a high-precision, non-contact measurement device that integrates optics, mechanics, electronics, and computer image processing technologies. Its core value lies in its ability to efficiently and accurately measure the two-dimensional geometric dimensions of workpieces (such as length, diameter, and angle), while also possessing a certain capability for height (Z-axis) measurement—hence the term “2.5D”.
Its operating principle can be understood as a combination of “imaging” and “coordinate” technology: an industrial camera captures the image of the workpiece, and the measurement software identifies edges and feature points through image processing algorithms. These are then combined with the motion platform coordinates fed back by high-precision linear scales to calculate precise geometric dimensions.
2.5D Image Measuring Instruments are widely used across various industries, including machinery, electronics, mold manufacturing, automotive parts, and medical devices. Typical applications include inspecting the hole-position accuracy of PCB boards, measuring the pin pitch of connectors, and checking the contours of precision stamped parts.
